Happy Friday August 16, 2024! Here are the books I got this week! It was a great book haul week for me!
Bought for me:
A Court of Thorns and Roses Paperback Box Set by Sarah J. Maas
I've only read the first book in this series. And that was when it first came out. I really want to re-read/re-start it but I know there are more to come so I feel like I need to wait. I have the hard cover books of this series (with the original covers signed in my collection!). But my dad saw this at Costco and picked it up for me!
The Brian Club by Kate Quinn
I don't know anything about this one but my dad saw it at Costco and thought I would enjoy it just based on the cover. I'm glad he did because it's really pretty.
On my Kindle:
The Widow's Husband's Secret Lie by Freida McFadden
I have not read a book by this author yet but see the name all over my book groups. Since I'm not sure if I'll like her or not, I decided to go with one of her shorts to start. Then I can see if I want to invest my time and money in anything else!
For review:
Under Loch and Key by Lana Ferguson
This author has been hit or miss for me. I loved her paranormal book but her contemporary romances were just ok for me. I'm hoping to enjoy this one as the reviews are looking really good!
Stranger Skies (Drowned Gods #2) by Pascale Lacelle
This is my number 1 most anticipated book of the year. I adored the first book in this series: dark academia, magic determined by the tides and moon, swoon worthy romance. ALL. OF. IT. You can see my review of Curious Tides (the first book in the series) HERE. It was my top book of 2023.
This one was a read now on NetGalley which was on my potential request list. I have heard good things about this author. And I cannot resist a good hockey romance with a historical twist!
Give Me Butterflies (Oaks Sisters #1) by Jillian Meadows
This one is a STEM romance. I love me some STEM! Science museum STEM! And Grumpy Sunshine! I can't wait to dive in! Looks to be a re-release as it was picked up by Avon. Thankfully it's the first book in the series, which I didn't even know was a series!
Cross my Heart by Megan Collins
This one showed up for me from Edelweiss. It's the first time I've been sent a book on their to review without requesting it. I read the synopsis after I saw it was sent to me and it sounds like a good thriller! I'm excited to give this new to me author a try!
From Libby:
Things You Save in a Fire by Katherine Center
I love Katherine Center and have decided I'd like to read all her books. This was available on Libby so I borrowed it. I've already finished it and it was very enjoyable.
How to Walk Away by Katherine Center
As I said above, I'm kind of on a Katherine Center roll. I'm listening to this one now. I really love the narrator but so far the story is meh.
Make Me (Broke and Beautiful #3) by Tessa Bailey
I'm making my way through Tessa Bailey's books and this was next on my list since I listened to the other two in this series. I've already read this one and really enjoyed it a lot.
From my Illumicrate Subscription:
The Phoenix Keeper by S.A. MacLean
This book is SO pretty. I love the regular cover for sure but this special edition is just out of this world gorgeous. It looks amazing on my bookshelf.
What did you get this week?
