Review:
I'm happy I got to experience Sav and Gid's story. It cleared up a lot for both of them.
In all the previous books, all we see is Gid brooding. He's always unhappy, nasty, not nice to anyone, even his family. This book sheds a bit of light on that, though I already knew his troubles. I still feel like he doesn't have as much depth as I would like. He's fairly superficial and I'm not sure if I like him or not. I got more out of Sav from this story. Since I didn't really know her much from the previous books, this was a good way to get to know her story and see how she fell for Gideon.
My biggest issue with this story was the time line. I'm not sure it flows as the authors thought it would. In all the previous books I was under the impression that Gid was a Freshman. Reed often talks about him just having left school. I assumed it was the year before. I also assumed Sav was Ella and Easton's age, but it seems she might be Reed's age. If so, the timeline is totally off because she was a sophomore when dating Gid. There are a few other plot holes that bothered me, but they didn't really alter the story so I can give those a pass.
I did see somewhere the authors saying this was for their readers and they did their best to keep the things in line with the story. But I feel like they didn't try hard enough.
Finally, there is one point in the story where a character specifically points out one race for something and I was taken aback by that as it leant zero to the story and was totally unnecessary.
Overall, it was enjoyable enough to get to know these two characters and some of their new friends.
