Top eight Female Kick Butt Books, in no particular order
Hunger Games: Katniss
Let’s face it, Katniss is probably on the top of everybody’s list of females who kick butt. Why did I choose her? She doesn’t go out looking for a fight but she sure as hell won’t hesitate to finish one. Katniss becomes a legend by doing something incredibly selfless; she saves her younger sister from being forced into a death match. That, above the incredible arrow shooting skills, makes Katniss a true kick ass.
Harry Potter: Heromine
Heromine stands for so much more than just bravery and sacrifice, she stands for knowledge and she stands for acceptances for all classes. Heromine, though not your advantage teenager, does go through what teenagers go through. She gets bullied, she finds love, she feels heartbreak but what I love most is that even though she is vulnerable she doesn’t give up. She also doesn’t let anyone push her around or tell her what she can and cannot do. I know, if given the option to fight Harry or Heromine, I would always fight Harry because Heromine knows her stuff.
Immortal Instruments: Clary
Clary I really like for her bravery even during a really confusing, complicated and terrifying time of her life. Not only is she a witness to murder but her mother goes missing, her house is destroyed and she’s attacked by a demon dog. For many, that’s under the ‘nope not going there’ part of their brain. Clary may be thrown into this new demon fighting world, but it’s her choice how she reacts to it. And she decides to answer with the bottom of her boot, kicking butt and taking no prisoners. Awesome!
The Vampire Diaries: Bonnie
I’m mostly talking about Bonnie from the t.v shows, but I love her character and I love her spunk. She’s one of the hardest working characters there; she’s a witch that is thrown into a pot of vampires and werewolves. She sacrifices everything for those she loves, even if it means sacrificing her own happiness. Bonnie is always thinking of others, even when the most horrible thing is happening to her she worries how it’ll affect her friends and family. She’s powerful, but I find her sense of loyalty and friendship are her true weapons.
The Fault in Our Stars: Hazel
I don’t feel the need to justify my decision with Hazel. She’s everything, she’s a survivor, she’s a loyal friend, a loving daughter and she’s incredibly strong. She’s fighting against cancer where her emotional and physical strength are continuously put to the test. I can’t even write about her without feeling my eyes swell with tears, she’s definitely in the kick butt department.
(Why be an author and not include your own books?)
My Demonic Ghost: Betrayal
Betrayal comes from a tough background and unfortunately it didn’t end when her life did. She’s a banished spirit that can chase away Hunters with just one look. Betrayal kicks butt for so many reasons, but the strongest part of her is her unacceptance to failure. She forms attachments with Lock even though Banished are known for being selfish and cruel, and for many she becomes the reliable big sister we all hope to have.
She manages to cling to a human side of her despite all the wrong that had happened. She’s overprotective and yes, that gives her a bit of a short fuse, but without Betrayal our hero Lock may never had made it past judgement day.
Time Weaver The Time Collector Series: Elizabeth
Time Weaver is my newest creation that’s yet to hit the publishing world, so a lot of people won’t have any idea what’s happening. But, I guess it doesn’t matter anyway. Elizabeth is our main heroine where through the ugliness of an affair was forced onto the streets with her mother when she was 8 years old. Elizabeth is brought up fending for one person, herself. Her mother, though they share a loving bond, cannot protect Elizabeth from the sadistic attention of Arthur Beaumont and so she must take matters into her own hands.
Elizabeth has her world torn apart by people she never thought could betray her. Does she curl in and cry about it? A little, but Elizabeth shows her true bravery and loyalty even in a world set out to destroy her. She’s not perfect and despite her weakness and faults Elizabeth never stops from taking the plunge into a world of the supernatural, taking on Time Collectors, witches, monsters and Bactes.
Soulless: Thea
Thea is my very raw protagonist with my newest dystopian supernatural, Soulless. What’s so cool about her, she’s a survivor. In a world turned mad with immortality, she not only becomes the world’s greatest threat and but also the most valuable salvation. She’s had to fight every person to protect herself and her younger sister, Annie from being taken advantage of. She’s my first character I’ve written that comes into the world with her fists swinging. When it comes to being literal, Thea with literally kick your or anyone’s butt.
Jacinta works full time in the family business and spends her afternoons either playing basketball, reading, writing or hanging out with friends. She is always happy to try something new; getting her real estate license, practicing ninjitshu, Zumba and parkour to name a few.
For her future, Jacinta sees herself writing. It is a large part of her identity and something she hopes to continue. Aside from her love of stories she loves Japan and its unique and beautiful culture and history. From their delicious sushi dishes right down to their wooden sandals and kimonos. She is also a huge cat person and loves to snuggle up in front of the fire for a good movie or book. Her favorite genres are paranormal and fantasy but she also loves anything written by thriller writer, Stephen King.
