Being
seventeen during World War II is tough. Finding out you’re the next keeper of
the real Cinderella’s dress is even tougher.
Kate simply wants
to create window displays at the department store where she's working, trying
to help out with the war effort. But when long-lost relatives from Poland
arrive with a steamer trunk they claim holds the Cinderella’s dress, life gets
complicated.
Now, with a
father missing in action, her new sweetheart shipped off to boot camp, and her
great aunt losing her wits, Kate has to unravel the mystery before it’s too
late.
After all, the
descendants of the wicked stepsisters will stop at nothing to get what they
think they deserve.
Guest Post from Shonna!
What I asked:
If you could live any fairy tale, which one would it be? Why? Which character would you be?
What Shonna said!
If I could live any fairy tale, it would be Rapunzel, the Tangled movie version. And I would be Rapunzel.
Solitude
I think I would be okay with living alone in a tower, as long as I had things to do and a pet to keep me company. Although I’d prefer to have a fluffy pet over a chameleon, cute and clever as he is. Her tower was so pretty and she had a beautiful view.
Creativity
Rapunzel had her painting. I’d want a laptop so I could read and write. Being alone for so long, imagine how many novels I could get written?
Adventure
Wow, could you imagine what an adventure it would be to leave the only room you’d ever lived in? Talk about life change. Every experience would be mind-blowing. Scary. But if you had a helpful, handsome rogue to guide you, it would be less scary. And, because I’d have the iron fry pan with me.
Betrayal
Okay, to learn that my mother is not my mother and had in fact stolen me from my real parents and had been treating me as a magic charm my whole life, would not be a pleasant revelation. In fact, it might take a few years of therapy to work through.
The Lanterns
Time out for a moment to imagine the lanterns…………….To have longed to see them up close my entire life (see, I’m slipping into the role) and then to not only be AT the castle to see them, but to have the handsome boy give me one to release, too. Sigh. Death by happiness.
Happy Endings
The good thing about fairy tales are the happy endings. And that, apparently, everyone can sing well. I only sing well when I’m alone in the car, so I’d appreciate the ability to belt it out like Mandy Moore.
I’ve actually got a novel in the works about a princess and a tower, though it is not a Rapunzel story. Here’s my inspiration board for it on Pinterest: The Tower Princess.

Though if I was Tangled Rapunzel (gender swapped version) I'd want more than 3 books! I mean seriously if you're board and have no more wall space to paint ask your "mother" for more books instead of more paint! I mean sheesh it's not like she doesn't like reading, she reads the same three books a day. lol Okay small rant over.
ReplyDeleteHaha *snort* You're right. But we never talked about how smart Rapunzel was. I guess I would also want to be a smarter version of her.
DeleteI'd want to be Alice from Alice in Wonderland. Not a TRUE fairy tale, but I feel it counts a bit haha
ReplyDeleteFrom your avatar, I could see you as an Alice.
DeleteAw, thank you :)
DeleteWell I'm glad to hear she is still writing!
ReplyDelete"Just keep writing, just keep writing," to the tune of "just keep swimming" from Nemo.
DeleteThanks for having me on the Cover Contessa today! This was a fun question to answer, but now I'm afraid I might become a little obsessed with Rapunzel. Had a dream about it last night...
ReplyDeleteThanks for being here! I'm glad you enjoyed answering it! What was the dream????
DeleteI'd want to be the Mad Hatter from Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Drinking tea all day with no obligation to make sense to anyone but myself, and only then if I wanted to make sense to myself. Why is a raven like a writing desk?
ReplyDeleteThe Mad Hatter would be fun. Now, where did I put down my tea.....
