But this summer at the Jersey Shore, something's about to happen that Nick never could have predicted. He meets a girl named Taryn and finds out about the Book of Touch. Now the path that he thought he was on begins to shift . . . and there's no way to stop things from happening. Or is there?
In a life where there are no surprises, nothing has prepared Nick for what he's about to discover--or the choice he will be forced to make. . .
Crystal's Review:
I don’t know if Cyn Balog is capable of writing a book that I can put down for a minute. She has an easy writing style that quickly settles you into the scene of the story and hooks you right away. As with all of her books - I loved Touched.
For most people, being able to see your future and having the ability to change it by simply making different everyday decisions, seems great! New Jersey high school student Nick Cross (known in class as Crazy Cross) knows better. He knows that knowing your future is a curse. >
Every morning Nick wakes up to the “You Wills”. As long as he does as the “You Wills” tell him to do, the current future he sees will hold. If he doesn’t like his future, he can do the opposite of what the “You Wills” tell him until his future changes. Currently he has the best possible future ahead of him and he’s trying desperately to hold on to it.
Then comes the moment when he is forced to make a decision against the “You Wills” to save a life, which in turn, costs another and turns Nick’s entire world on its side. Immediately everything in his mind begins to shuffle – until she touches him and his mind, for the first time in his life, settles. That is Mystery 1. Mystery 2 is: How does she know he’s cursed (and why does she seem ok with it?). And Mystery 3: Why can’t he see his graduation day in his future??
Nick needs to find out what this girl and her fortune teller grandmother know about him and his mother and their curse. Can they break it? It could be a matter of life or death.
She also writes under the pen name Nichola Reilly. Nichola Reilly is Cyn Balog's post-apocalyptic fantasy-writing alter-ego. The first book in her series, DROWNED, will be releasing from Harlequin TEEN sometime in 2014, followed by a sequel, BURIED, in 2015.
