Blurb from Goodreads:
Some things are worth waiting for…
Traveling thousands of miles from home to enter college is the only way nineteen-year-old Avery Morgansten can escape what happened at the Halloween party five years ago—an event that forever changed her life. All she needs to do is make it to her classes on time, make sure the bracelet on her left wrist stays in place, not draw any attention to herself, and maybe—please God—make a few friends, because surely that would be a nice change of pace. The one thing she didn’t need and never planned on was capturing the attention of the one guy who could shatter the precarious future she’s building for herself.
Some things are worth experiencing…
Cameron Hamilton is six feet and three inches of swoon-worthy hotness, complete with a pair of striking blue eyes and a remarkable ability to make her want things she believed were irrevocably stolen from her. She knows she needs to stay away from him, but Cam is freaking everywhere, with his charm, his witty banter, and that damn dimple that’s just so… so lickable. Getting involved with him is dangerous, but when ignoring the simmering tension that sparks whenever they are around each other becomes impossible, he brings out a side of her she never knew existed.
Some things should never be kept quiet…
But when Avery starts receiving threatening emails and phone calls forcing her to face a past she wants silenced, she has no other choice but to acknowledge that someone is refusing to allow her to let go of that night when everything changed. When the devastating truth comes out, will she resurface this time with one less scar? And can Cam be there to help her or will he be dragged down with her?
And some things are worth fighting for…

Author: J. Lynn

Brooke's Review:
So, as most of my friends know, I am not huge on anything contemporary. I rarely give contemporary books greater than a 3 because they are not usually my thing. But when it comes to J Lynn, it's hard not to like what she writes!
So when I saw the cover of this book, I knew for sure there was romance waiting inside. How could there not be?
I like Avery's character a lot. She has baggage, don't we all. And you definitely get an idea as to what the baggage is, but don't think you've figured it out completely until you read the book. She's spunky and tough. At the same time, you have a lot of sympathy for her seeing what she had to go through, seeing how little it seems her parents care for her as opposed to their reputation. She's certainly relatable as a girl running from her past and hoping it does not catch up with her.
Cameron, oh Cam, he's so sexy, funny, juvenile, silly, caring, loving, and so much more. I love his strength and his vulnerability. I love his witty banter and his cockiness. You love to be annoyed with him. That's my kind of leading man! He knows what he wants and he goes after it for sure.
Like most plots in contemporary romances, this one is by no way hard to figure out. Boy meets girl, they are attracted to each and you wait for the happily ever after. So what sets this book apart is how the characters get there. How they work out their differences, how they come clean about their jaded pasts. And the way J Lynn does it is top notch. I really enjoyed turning the pages to this book and watching the relationship between Cam and Avery unfold. It was great to see them click and have fun. And the pacing was dead on. It was fun watching it all unfold.
There were definitely areas that just seemed above and beyond to me: Avery's wealth of money, her parents allowing secrets to be hidden, Cam's doting on her and not expecting anything. But such is the story of any contemporary romance in the NA genre that I have read.
All in all, this is certainly one of the best reads in this genre for me. I found the writing flowed well and it was interesting, keeping me wanting to turn the pages to find out what would happen next. I wanted to find out more about Avery, more about Cam and more about where their relationship would go. This book made me tear up, it made me laugh and it mad me angry. Lot of emotions wrapped into this tight little bundle of joy. I highly recommend it for anyone who likes romance and tension. It certainly hits the mark.
4/5 stars.
All the rumors you heard about her state aren’t true.
Well, mostly. When she's not hard at work writing, she spends her time, reading, working out, watching zombie movies, and pretending to write.
She is the author of the Covenant Series (Spencer Hill Press), the Lux Series (Entangled Teen), Don't Look Back (Disney/Hyperion) and a yet untitled novel (Disney/Hyperion), and new YA paranormal series with Harlequin Teen.
Jennifer also writes New Adult and Adult romance under the pen name J. Lynn. The Gamble Brothers Series (Tempting the Best Man/Tempting the Player) and Wait for You.
Awesome review, Brooke :D Love the hot guys that JLA writes *swooooon* Seriously need to find the time to read this :(
